Short-notice support
When a shift falls over, a worker calls in sick, or something changes with no warning.
What this support is
Cover arranged at short notice — often the same day — when your usual arrangement falls through or your circumstances change suddenly.
Who it might suit
People come to us for short-notice support for all sorts of reasons. A few common ones:
- Your regular worker has cancelled and you are without support today
- You are coming home from hospital sooner than expected
- A family carer is unwell or has had to travel
- A Support Coordinator has a participant who needs someone this week, not next month
What support can look like
A straight answer quickly
We tell you yes or no promptly. We do not leave you hanging while we work out whether we can staff it.
Briefed even in a hurry
Short notice does not mean unprepared. The worker still gets what they need before they arrive.
No penalty for the urgency
Short-notice support is charged at the same rates as planned support for the relevant time and day.
Follow-up afterwards
We check in the next day to work out whether this is a one-off or the start of something ongoing.
How Gold Coast Devoted Care is different
We only accept work we can genuinely staff. Saying no quickly is more useful to you than saying yes and not turning up — and it is the reason coordinators come back.
Before any support begins, our Founder & Director meets you in person to understand your routine, preferences, communication style and goals. The worker match is made from that conversation.
What happens when you get in touch
- You call, email or send the form — no NDIS terminology needed.
- We reply the same business day and ask a few practical questions.
- Our Founder & Director meets you, usually within a couple of days.
- We confirm the worker, share your plan with them, and tell you who is coming.
- Support starts, and we check in after the first shift.
Where it is available
Across the Gold Coast, Logan and Brisbane South. If you are just outside those areas, ask anyway.
Funding. We support Plan-Managed and Self-Managed NDIS participants, and private clients. Our rates sit at or below the NDIS price limits, so there is no gap for you to pay. Gold Coast Devoted Care is not currently a registered NDIS provider; registration is underway.
Short-notice support — common questions
It depends on the day, the suburb and the type of support. Call us and you will get an honest answer rather than a hopeful one.
No. The rate is the rate for that time and day.
