You do not need the right words to start
You do not need to know your plan categories, the name of the support you want, or any NDIS terminology at all. If you can describe a part of your week that is hard, that is enough to begin.
What you can expect from us
Support is a strange thing to shop for. You are choosing who comes into your home, possibly to help with very personal things, and there is no way to try it before you decide.
So here is what we do to make that decision smaller.
We meet you before anything starts
Our Founder & Director comes to you. He asks about your routine, what you like done first, how much conversation you want, what you would rather do yourself, and what has not worked before.
You know who is coming
Before the first shift you are told the worker's name, their qualification, and that their screening is current. They read your support plan before they walk in.
The same person, wherever we can
Support only really works when you are not explaining yourself from scratch every week. We keep the group of people supporting you as small as we sensibly can.
If it is not right, we change it
Tell us. No reason needed, no awkward conversation, no charge for the changeover. Nobody should be putting up with a worker who does not suit them out of politeness.
If you are the one holding it all together
Respite that is a real break
A break where you spend the whole time worrying is not a break. We plan respite properly and tell you how it went afterwards.
Respite supportOvernight support
Sleepovers and active overnight support, so the person doing the nights can actually sleep.
Overnight & weekendWhen something falls over
A worker cancels, someone is unwell, a discharge happens early. We take short-notice requests and answer quickly either way.
Short-notice supportUnderstanding your funding
We support participants whose plans are Plan-Managed or Self-Managed. Both of those mean you are free to choose any provider you like, registered or not — you do not need permission and you do not need a reason.
Gold Coast Devoted Care is not currently a registered NDIS provider; registration is underway. If your plan is Agency-Managed, you would generally need a registered provider, and we will tell you that honestly rather than waste your time.
Questions families ask
With a phone call. You do not need to know what service you need or what your plan categories are. Describe the part of your week that is hard and we will work it out from there.
Yes, and a lot of first calls come from family. We will meet you both before anything begins, and the person being supported stays in charge of the decisions.
Not on the first visit — our Founder & Director comes with the worker. And your worker will have read your support plan before they arrive, so they will not be starting from nothing.
This is very common and it is usually about control rather than the help itself. We start small, we do not push, and we build up from whatever is acceptable. Talk to us about the specifics.
Of course. The first meeting is not a commitment and there is nothing to sign at it.
Yes — private clients who fund their own support are welcome. Get in touch and we will explain how it works.
