Personal care
Support with showering, dressing, grooming, continence and getting moving — done the way you prefer, by someone you know.
What this support is
Personal care is hands-on support with the parts of the day that involve your body — showering, dressing, grooming, oral care, continence support, and help with moving around or transferring safely.
It is also the most personal support anyone will ever ask for. That is why we treat how it is delivered as seriously as whether it gets done.
Who it might suit
People come to us for personal care for all sorts of reasons. A few common ones:
- You need a hand with showering or dressing and would rather it was the same person each time
- Your morning takes longer than it used to and you want it to feel unhurried
- You use a hoist, a transfer belt or a mobility aid and need someone competent with it
- A family member has been providing this support and it is becoming difficult for both of you
What support can look like
A routine that is yours
We write down how you like your morning to run — the order, the products, the temperature, the music — and every worker reads it before they arrive.
Privacy and dignity first
You decide how much help you want and what you would rather do yourself. That can change day to day, and that is fine.
Competent with equipment
Hoists, slide sheets, shower chairs and transfer aids. If a worker is not confident with your equipment, they do not attend your shift.
Written up afterwards
A short note after every visit covering what was done and anything that seemed different.
How Gold Coast Devoted Care is different
Most providers will send whoever is free. We work the other way around: our Founder & Director meets you first, learns how you like this support delivered, and then matches a worker to that — not to a gap in a roster.
Before any support begins, our Founder & Director meets you in person to understand your routine, preferences, communication style and goals. The worker match is made from that conversation.
What happens when you get in touch
- You call, email or send the form — no NDIS terminology needed.
- We reply the same business day and ask a few practical questions.
- Our Founder & Director meets you, usually within a couple of days.
- We confirm the worker, share your plan with them, and tell you who is coming.
- Support starts, and we check in after the first shift.
Where it is available
Across the Gold Coast, Logan and Brisbane South. If you are just outside those areas, ask anyway.
Funding. We support Plan-Managed and Self-Managed NDIS participants, and private clients. Our rates sit at or below the NDIS price limits, so there is no gap for you to pay. Gold Coast Devoted Care is not currently a registered NDIS provider; registration is underway.
Personal care — common questions
Yes. Just tell us. You do not need to explain why, and it will not affect anything else about your support.
Support workers can prompt and assist with medication in line with your plan and our procedures, but they are not nurses and cannot make clinical decisions. We will be clear with you about exactly what your worker can and cannot do before support starts.
Tell us and we will change them. No explanation needed, no awkwardness, and no charge for the changeover.
No. We agree the times that suit your routine, and if your routine changes we change with it.
